Saturday night’s the night Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper stays home and pets his kittens and whatever else he does at home. But it’s Sunday, and Harper’s now wearing his business socks.
Harper has called the the much-expected federal election for Oct. 14, and my bet is, frankly, nobody cares.
Everyone’s too wrapped up with the ongoing tab war over who has the scoop on U.S. Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s family, and watching U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s latest speeches.
Of course, I’m referring to the ongoing U.S. election, which will no doubt nearly drown out the campaign on this side of the border.
Where’s my proof, you ask? How about You Tube for starters. See I don’t need polls. I have the Interweb at my fingertips. Here’s my methodology:
1. Go to You Tube.
2. Enter the last name of Stephane Dion, Stephen Harper, Barack Obama and John McCain each in a separate search.
3. Realize Canadians don’t give a crap.
You’ll notice the Canadian politicians last names yield nearly zippo You Tube results for our friends on Parliament Hill. But the U.S. presidential candidates get hit, after hit, after hit.
I know the election has just been called. So I’m being very optimistic in hoping that will change. I might even start adding my own videos to You Tube.
